About us
Uganda Medicinal Growers, Limited (Project UMPG) is dedicated to providing these farmers with the knowledge and resources to access local and international markets. This project has the potential to reverse the entire region’s economic outlook. UMPG engages farmers in three districts in Masindi, Nebi and Hoima in the commercial growing, harvesting, and processing of the moringa tree and its various product lines.
This sustainable development project not only has the potential to lift thousands of farmers from the poverty of subsistence-farming, but it’s success would also impact multiple support industries throughout the region. Our mission is to deliver win-win outcomes, both for interested investors and participating farmers.
The virtues of Moringa Olifera have been known to other cultures since antiquity, earning it the nickname ‘miracle tree’. Ms Ann Mbora, a researcher at the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF), notes, “Almost, all of the tree, from the roots up can be used for nutrition and to treat particular illness.”

Ugandan farmers were sold seedlings by an aloe promoter four years ago who promised them a processing facility and international sales but in the end seemed only interested in seedling sales. Similar false promises brought Moringa to the fields of Uganda.
But UMPGL has seized the opportunity to this into a success story.
